Shawn J. Durington currently resides in Greenville, North Carolina, but grew up in Portsmouth, Virginia. As a child, he enjoyed doodling and scribbling whenever he should have been paying attention in class. Durington received a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts Art Education and a Bachelor’s in Fine Art Studio Art from East Carolina University in 2006, where he studied Printmaking and Textiles. After teaching middle school art for four years, he decided it was time to return to school for his master’s degree. In 2013 he earned a Master’s in Fine Arts in Animation and Visual Effects, studying in the area of Visual Development from Academy of Art University.  His book Drawing Monsters with Melvin and Me went into it's second printing in summer of 2018 and his second book Drawing Heroes, Villains, and Pets with Melvin and Me is now available.

Currently Shawn is creating art customized for each person and bringing out the child inside each of us. He is also working on drawing lessons, creating puppets, and his children’s book The Adventures of Melvin and Me.
